Where We Are

Tonna is situated in the Neath Valley, a classic U-shaped valley midway along South Wales. Much of the village is built upon the terminal morraine left behind by the glacier that carved and deepened the area during the last ice age, only a few thousand years ago. The rock under the morraine is mostly Carboniferous age sandstone and coal measures.

The River Neath flows from the Brecon Beacons mountains to Swansea Bay. The nearest town is Neath, about 2 miles away, and the nearest city is Swansea, about 10 miles south west of Tonna. Our approximate position is latitude 51.41N, longitude 3.44W (useful if you're using Google Earth). The climate is rather wet, but we do get plenty of nice sunny days too.

How to Get Here

Tonna is easy to get to by road or rail. Take the M4 motorway (we're about one hour west of the Severn crossing) and exit at junction 43 (signposted Neath) and follow the A465 road towards Neath and Merthyr Tydfil. Exit at the junction marked 'Blaendulais, Seven Sisters' after you have passed the town of Neath. As you leave the A465 take the 5th exit from the roundabout and follow the signs to Tonna. Cross the River Neath at the bridge by the Railway Pub, drive a few hundred metres uphill and you're in Tonna.

By rail there is a regular service from London Paddington and Cardiff by high speed train, it takes about 2hrs 40mins to get to Neath station from London, from where you can walk or take a taxi to Tonna. See http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/ for timetables and pricing.

By air you can fly to Cardiff Airport and get a train from the nearby station to Neath via either Bridgend or Cardiff.
